Breastfeeding Information and Support

La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed.

La Leche League (LLL) International's mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and the mother.

Mother to Mother

All breastfeeding mothers and mothers-to-be interested in breastfeeding are welcome to come to our meetings or call our leader for breastfeeding help or information. Babies and children are always welcome at our meetings.

La Leche League Leaders are experienced mothers who have breastfed their own babies and who have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and mothers-to-be with all aspects of breastfeeding. They are available by phone whenever you have breastfeeding questions or concerns.

Meeting Information

LLL of Grand Marais meets on the second Tuesday of each month, at 7 p.m. in the foyer of the First Congregational Church, Grand Marais.

Our meetings rotate through the following topics:

• The Advantages of Breastfeeding
• Baby Arrives: The Family and the Breastfed Baby
• The Art of Breastfeeding and Avoiding Difficulties
• Nutrition and Weaning

Each meeting begins with an opportunity for mothers to discuss breastfeeding questions or problems. We also offer a lending library of breastfeeding and parenting books.
